Loretta V. Bowers Nelson went home softly to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 20, 2016.

She was born November 13, 1920 to Emmett and Martha Bowers in Long Island, Kansas. The family moved to Spokane, Washington when Loretta was in her teens to escape the effects of the Dust Bowl. She graduated from North Central High School. Shortly thereafter, she met Maurice Nelson and they courted; spending many dates riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and sidecar. They were married April 14, 1940 and had three children: Marcia, Diane, and Craig. Together they built a home in Millwood, Washington that Loretta went on to live in for over 60 years.

Loretta's greatest joys in life came from her relationship with Jesus and her family. She loved simple things: reading the Bible, singing hymns, coffee, birds, watermelon, gardening, and baking. She had a wonderful smile and caring nature, readily making friends wherever she went.

She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, and son. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Marcia Tiffany, and daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Hunter Brown; her five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.
